About FunDev<> International Competition
Background
In the era of Society 5.0, digital technology plays a crucial role in solving global problems. The United Nations (UN) has set 17 goals under the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a blueprint for achieving a better, more sustainable future for everyone. Reaching these targets requires collaboration and fresh ideas from young innovators, especially in information technology.
In response to this challenge, the D3 Informatics Engineering Study Program, Faculty of Vocational Studies, Universitas Sumatera Utara, organizes the FunDev<> International Competition. This event is intended to be a catalyst for students at the international level to channel their ideas and creativity into applied technology products with a real impact on society and the environment.
What is FunDev<>?
FunDev<> International Competition is an international-scale competition focused on Digital Creative Technology. Participants are challenged to design and develop applicable, innovative, and purposeful technology solutions that address problems within the SDG pillars. The form a solution takes is open, including but not limited to:
- Web Development — information systems, dashboards, web apps
- Mobile Application — Android / iOS apps
- Internet of Things (IoT) — integrated hardware, smart sensors, smart systems
- Other Creative Technology — Artificial Intelligence / AI, Machine Learning, AR/VR, etc.
Participants are free to choose one or more SDG pillars as the case study for the work they create.
Objectives
- 1. Drive Sustainable Innovation — Facilitate the creation of creative technology works that provide real solutions to SDG issues.
- 2. Improve Global Competence — Give students a platform to hone technical skills (coding, software engineering, system design) as well as soft skills such as problem-solving and presentation at the international level.
- 3. Build International Collaboration — Strengthen networks among students and academics in information technology from universities both in Indonesia and abroad.
